Where to land

Each chest is tied to its nearest named location. The squares shown are the busiest ones, three at most. Lots of chests also draw a crowd: Pro-Gamer ranks Arlong Park among the most contested landing spots.

The four chest types

Not all spots are equal: some are marked as always present, others may be missing from one match to the next.

  • Standard chest

    589

May not appear in every match.

  • Guaranteed chest

    243

Marked as always present in the game files.

  • Rare chest

    37

Blue chest, marked as always present in the game files.

  • Buried chest

    69

Buried in the ground, waiting to be dug up.

These four types are the ones in the game files. Fortnite Tracker also mentions Sprite chests, which aren’t listed here. Shacknews spots special chests by their skull graffiti, but Timesaver points out that any chest can drop the token.

What a chest can drop

No source gives the full list. Here is what has been reported, with how reliable each piece of information is.

  • The Pirate Shop token Several sources

The most sought-after reward: 14 days of free Item Shop, twice. It’s all explained in the guide.

  • Gizmos, most of the time Several sources

Sprite Locator and Portable Extractor are the examples given by games.gg. Pro-Gamer adds Extraction Accelerators.

  • Solid gold A$AP Rocky Several sources

The outfit and its gauntlet pickaxe, listed by Fortnite Tracker. Pro-Gamer places them in week 1, until November 7.

  • Lil Uzi Vert in week 2 Several sources

Cosmetics change during the event: the second week brings in Lil Uzi Vert rewards, and the token stays available.

  • Mercedes-AMG G 63 Unconfirmed

A vehicle listed by Fortnite Tracker, the only source to mention it.

  • Loading screen, decal and Jam Tracks Unconfirmed

The Plunder in Paradise loading screen, the Golden Llama Crew decal and Jam Tracks, again according to Fortnite Tracker.

Open more chests

No method is proven to get the token. These tips mainly help you open more chests per match.

  • A cave on the island, guarded by a stone face with red eyes.
  • A skull-shaped rock surrounded by greenery.
  • A colorful ship moored in one of the island’s harbors.

Chests refill Official

The patch notes quoted by Timesaver say so: an opened chest fills up again after a while. There is no official delay; Pro-Gamer talks about a few minutes. Nothing confirms that it rerolls the token draw.

Useful Sprites Several sources

Fortune Sprite
Reveals nearby chests, according to Timesaver and Pro-Gamer.
Plundarrgh
Gives a speed boost and a pickaxe bonus with every chest you open.
Chester
Can spawn extra loot, with no known link to the rare rewards.

Recommended routes Unconfirmed

  • Start from a big location and search the buildings, then move on to a nearby one (games.gg, Shacknews).
  • Land on rooftops and break through the ceilings with your pickaxe to save time (Pro-Gamer).
  • In a squad, split up across different locations. Timesaver warns that four players don’t open four times as many chests.
  • Clear a location, move away for a few minutes, then come back for the refilled chests (Pro-Gamer).
